5 Play Fountains and Urban Beaches in London

Summer is here!

To celebrate the longest day of the year, we decided to share with you our favourite play fountains and urban beaches for children in London. There's nothing that makes a child happier than play with sand or make a splash in the water!

1. Diana Memorial Fountain

This is probably the most famous place in London to make a splash, just in the heart of Hyde Park. This memorial to Princess Diana with fabulous views to the Serpentine lake was opened by Her Majesty The Queen in 2004. The children can have lots of fun walking in the water around the memorial. However, it is better to avoid weekend days. During the Summer they can be very busy.

2. V&A Museum

What to do you think about having a great day visiting the museus in South Kensington and after seeing the dinosaurs or the astronauts, finish the day refreshing in the water in a stunning pool just inside the beautiful V&A Museum? The children will love it!

3. Bishop's Park

This beautiful park in Fulham has an unique urban beach. Even in Edwardian times, families from across the capital went to Margate Sands to play in the sand and enjoy river walks. In our days, children can still play in the sand... and on the paddling pool and water jets of the park.

4. Holland Park

If your son or daughter likes to make sand castles, you don't need to get out of London. Holland Park in Kensington has a fantastic sandpit and a play area with climbing equipment, a see-saw, a zip wire and a tyre swing. Bring a blanket, do a picnic and relax in green surroundings.

5. Somerset House

The famous 55 water jets of The Edmond J. Safra Fountain Court can go spurt upwards in a sequenced pattern to make a stunning and visually mesmerising display. And, when evening falls, the water is floodlit adding colourful lights to the water projections. The iconic fountains are currently switched off but are scheduled to return on 23rd July 2018.

In case you have a garden and you prefer to do something more quiet, doing a pool party during the Summer is always a good idea!
